The Team

Marine Habitat – Discover & Master Saltwater Fishkeeping. A marine fish keeping and conservation magazine. ‘The team’ page provides details of those people involved in this publication.

Marine Habitat has a dedicated team behind the scenes, and here is a little insight into who they are.

Editors-in-Chief: Andy Gascoigne and Dave Pitt (Joint)

Marine Habitat benefits from the input and ideas of two Editors-in-Chief, Andy and Dave, and while each have their own main roles as below, this collaboration ensures a truly fantastic publication. Both Andy and Dave are hobbyists at heart which makes them perfectly suited to produce a niche magazine of this sort. As they say, two minds are better than one!

This joint position is responsible for making decisions around what content will be featured in the magazine, understanding what topics are of most interest, and generally ensuring that the magazine as a whole includes everything it needs to succeed as a trusted marine fishkeeping resource. If you’ve got any content ideas, please feel free to contact us using the contact page and we’ll be sure to consider them.

Editor: Dave Pitt

The role of editor is responsible for collating all the content within the magazine, from a whole variety of sources including contributors and other team members, and then planning out the structure and order of each issue.

“A bit about myself … I’m currently under the age of 30 … I mention that because I want to take advantage while I still can. The years are rolling by and if I said I had reservations about hitting that big number it would be an understatement. I live in Sheffield, England and have pretty much do so all my life – it doesn’t get much more exciting than Sheffield you know. In addition to my marine aquarium, I also have a Koi pond in the garden, two lizards called Clive and Leila, a cat called Edward and the more recent addition of a puppy called Molly (she’s a Beagle) who is currently going through that somewhat destructive stage of life … but it all adds to the fun.” Dec 2010

Designer: Andy Gascoinge

The role of designer, without stating the obvious, is to take all the content collated by the editor and design it all up so it looks fantastic.

“Unlike Dave, I’m proud of my age, a grand total of twenty something years or 27 to be exact. I’ve always had a following for Mother Nature, watching hundreds of those stunning BBC documentaries with my Grandfather and then growing up and wanting to be a vet. Unfortunately science wasn’t my strongest subject and so using my creative side I followed the path of an artist, quickly identifying graphic design as my chosen field. I’ve always had animals around the house, which at times has resembled Chester zoo, but alongside my marine aquarium I currently have Tiffany (Airdale Terrier) who guards the house (or at least the dog biscuits drawer), a twenty two year old Plec (Hypostomus plecostomus) and outside I have a large Koi pond. Not quite the zoo it used to be but my passion is now marine life.” Dec 2010

Online & Marketing: Chris Arthur

The online aspects of Marine Habitat are closely managed, to ensure that readers can find Marine Habitat when they search on the internet, that we provide an all round resource accessible digitally as well as on paper, and of course enabling customers to purchase the magazine from anywhere in the world via the Marine Habitat website.

“Well I have already hit the age of 30 earlier this year and i seem to remember Dave taking the opportunity to remind me once or twice … his time will come hehe. I live just outside Sheffield in a town called Chesterfield (or Chessy as it’s more locally known). I have lived here for over 3 years with my partner Laura and my two boys Oliver (3yrs) and Jacob (7mths) who are no trouble at all…honest! I am relatively new to the world of marine aquatics but am learning all the time and am very excited about being involved with this fantastic new magazine. My other interests outside of work include Formula One, and football and I have also maintained a passion for many years for writing songs and playing the guitar.” Dec 2010
